Re: [Orekit Users] Installing Orekit 6.0 on a MacBook Pro

Hi Samuel,

Samuel Dupree <sdupree@speakeasy.net> a écrit :

I am attempting to install Orekit 6.0 onto a MacBook Pro running Mac OS X version 10.8.4 (Mountain Lion) and Java Standard Edition version 7 Update 25 as provided by ORACLE.

I installed Orekit using Maven 3 and it reported that the installation created Orekit-6.0.jar in the target sub directory. The problem I'm having is that I Orekit-6.0.jar fails to execute.

The Orekit jar does not execute by itself. It is a library intended to build applications on top of it, it's not an application.

There are some example applications available in the src/tutorials folders you can look at. There are simple programs that simply either write output to the console or read/write test files. There are not graphical interface here.

Other applications that have been done are available in the Orekit forge. There is an orbit determination program (here a gain with simple input/output) which was contributed to Orekit by Telespazio and is in the orekit-labs part of the forge <https://www.orekit.org/forge/projects/orbit-determination-telespazio-s-contribution>. There is also an android application, the pre-built .apk files corresponding to the 2011 version are available in the files section of the SOCIS-2011 projet on the forge <https://www.orekit.org/forge/projects/socis-2011/files>. The updates done in 2012 as a second SOCIS project are not pre-packaged but the source code is available on the git repository (on-line browsing at <https://www.orekit.org/forge/projects/socis-2011/repository> and source retrieval using "git clone http://www.orekit.org/git/socis-2011";).

hope this helps
Luc

Any advice?

Sam Dupree.
